Starrchild

A former backing band of Edwin's, Los Angeles-based Starrchild backed Edwin from late 1976 through to 1982 and were appropriately named after him.

During this period Edwin had his biggest revitalising hits Contact('78) and H.A.P.P.Y Radio('79).

The line-up here (LtoR) is:
Glennis Jones - Guitar
Bob Chimits - Sax
Efren Espinosa - Drums
Kevin Peachy - Trumpet
Rick McAfee - Keyboards
D.A. Bookman - Sax
Bobby Felix (RIP)- Bass
and Edwinn MC Fatman in the middle

Other members of the band not featured but who have done stints with them at one time or another are:
Bob Carlisle -Guitar
Frank Salazar - Drums
Luke Metoyer - Percussions
Jimmy McAfee - Bass - Jimmy Mack's fave links: [myspace.com/pu4f] [azblueshof.com] [onemanstrashband.com] [youtube]

Efren's comments:

  • Fatman was cool on and off stage.

  • I missed out on a one-in-a-lifetime chance to appear at the Royal Albert Hall when, due to a family illness, Frank Salazar stood in for me on Starrchild's first UK tour.

All of the band members were featured on Edwin's 1980 album Stronger Than You Think I Am
